Is Not Alcoholic – Yet Is Human in Nature
French 75 is a classic cocktail, developed in Paris in the 1920s and named after the French 75 mm cannon used during World War I. At that time champagne-based cocktails were used with Lemon juice and sugar plus alcohol, with the most popular additions being: cognac and then gin.
Ingredients:
- 3 cl Gin
- 1.5 cl Fresh lemon juice
- 2 dashes Sugar syrup
- 6 cl Champagne
Preparation:
- Upon shaking the first three ingredients with ice, you should pour them in a champagne
- glass (flute) and top them up slowly with champagne. Stir gently.
- Served: Straight up; without ice
- Standard garnish: Garnishing is best done with a twist of lemon.
- Drinkware: Champagne flute
